11th Annual FSMA Walk ‘n Roll – Lake Phalen

A friend from years past [Jeff Halvorson] invited me to take some pictures of the the 11th Annual FSMA Walk ‘n Roll at Lake Phalen in St. Paul, MN and I gladly accepted the invitation.  The wonderful weather made for a great turn out to raise awareness for Spinal Muscular Atrophy(SMA).

Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (FSMA) is the largest international organization dedicated solely to eradicating spinal muscular atrophy by promoting and supporting research, helping families cope with SMA through information programs and support, and educating the public and professional community about SMA.  FSMA, founded in 1984 by a group of concerned parents, is a 100% volunteer organization.  Which children are affected by SMA?  One in every 6,000 babies is afflicted with SMA.  50% of those diagnosed with SMA will die before reaching their second birthday.
